The Merl Grove High School Past Students’ Association NY Chapter Inc is registered in the state of New York and recognized by the Internal Revenue Service as a non-profit 501 (c) 3 corporation. Founded in 2010 with the mission to help past students remain in touch with their classmates, keep graduates abreast of school news and aid the school and its current student body.
The Chapter’s activities are overseen by a six-member volunteer Board of dedicated past students that is elected by the membership base. The Board is comprised of a President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, Assistant Secretary/Treasurer, Membership Chair, and a Public Relations Coordinator.
In 2012, the NY Chapter established a scholarship in the name of one of Jamaica’s most noted educator Mrs. Ellorine Walker, principal of Merl Grove from 1968- 1980.
The NY Chapter adopted the Science Department in 2013 and has embarked on a major campaign to modernize it. To date, this is our first major project, and the success of this campaign will provide needed support of state-of-the-art equipment and resources for the laboratories and the students.
Merlgrovians, family and friends all over, have been loyal and bighearted to the NY Chapter’s mission. Many have donated their time, talent, and financial support to preserve the traditions and standards of Merl Grove High School.
To assemble an association composed of past students, families and friends of Merl Grove High School residing in the general location of New York State and surrounding areas.
To promote and enrich the academic, cultural, philosophical, social, and physical development of Merl Grove High School.
To form a bond between the institution, its students, teachers, administrators, and past students.
To achieve all of the above through the conception, implementation, and careful supervision of social and fundraising projects, in a manner that does not violate the creed of Merl Grove High School or negatively impact the good name of the institution.
